2 product guide ( utz-sc0293_0 ) 2011/10/11    cautions (1) safety of laser light    laser light can damage the human eyes and skin. do not expose the eye or skintoanylaserlightdirectlyand/orthroughopt icallens.whenhandlingtheld receptaclemodules,wearappropriatesafetyglasses topreventlaserlight,even any reflections from entering to the eye. focused l aser beam through optical instrumentswillincreasethechanceofeyehazard.    theseldreceptaclemodulesareclassifiedin class 3b of the iec60825-1 and 21 cfr part 1040.10 safety standards . it is absolutely necessary to take overall safety measures against user's modules, equ ipment and systems into whichnichialdreceptaclemodulesareincorporated and/orintegrated. (2) operating method    the ld receptacle module shall change its forward v oltage requirement and optical output power accordi ng to temperature change. also, the ld receptacle module will require more operation current to maintain sam e output power as it degrades. in order to maintain output p ower, use of apc (automatic power control) is recom mended, whichusemonitorfeedbacktoadjusttheoperation current.    confirm that electrical spike current generated by switching on and off does not exceed the maximum op erating current level specified herein above as absolute ma x rating. also, employ appropriate countermeasures to reduce chatteringand/orovershootinginthecircuit. (3) static electricity    static electricity or electrical surges will reduce and degrade the reliability of the ld receptacle m odules. it is recommendedtouseawriststraporantielectrosta ticglovewhenhandlingtheproduct. (4) absolute maximum rating    active layer of ld receptacle modules shall have hi gh current density and generate high electric field during its operation.inordertopreventexcessivedamage,th eldreceptaclemodulemustbeoperatedstrictlybe lowabsolute maxrating.
